New Singer Auditions:

Call 616-494-0256 for an audition or email Julia@hollandchorale.org

Dear future Holland Chorale member:

I’m delighted that you’re planning to join us this fall! The Chorale is looking forward to two concerts of stunning and powerful music:  our fall concert is on Saturday, October 22 and entitled SHAKE THE RAFTERS!  Our HOLIDAY CELEBRATION concert with the Holland Symphony is Saturday, December 10.

Your audition will be only 15 minutes long, in the choir room of First Reformed Church. Only you and I will be in the room, so you won’t be singing for an audience!  The audition will consist of three parts:
  • 2 minutes of a piece of solo music of your choice.  Good choices include classical or sacred music, a folk tune or hymn.  If you do choose a pop or broadway song, it should be a ballad.  Choose music that shows me your voice’s best range and tone.
  • A phrase from a piece of choral music that I choose.  We’ll email you the page of music when you set up your audition.  If you’re a good music reader, you’ll find it simple to sight-read. You can also ask someone to help you with it, or I will teach it to you when you arrive.
  • A few moments of vocalizing, meaning that I test your voice for the best section assignment (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass)

After your audition, we’ll talk for a few moments about it, and you’re done – quick and easy.  If you have any questions about the process, don’t hesitate to email me at PCoyle@HollandChorale.org.

To set up an audition, contact our Operations Manager, Julia Johnson at julia@hollandchorale.org.  Julia will set up a time for you.  And feel free to forward this info to friends or family members who are also good singers!

Best,
Patrick Coyle
